International Affiliates

WIAL promotes Action Learning around the globe by developing international affiliates and by authorising/licensing affiliates to certify Action Learning coaches in the WIAL method of Action Learning.

WIAL offers resources and support for its affiliates to share achievements, research, and best practices, and supports affiliates in their oversight of the training and development of Action Learning coaches.

WIAL supports affiliates as they reach out to all sectors (village, municipal, regional and national government, university, business, NGO community) where Action Learning can transform organisational approaches to problem solving, leadership development, team building and organisational and individual learning.

WIAL envisions one affiliate per country, yet recognises that in some instances a single affiliate may serve several countries or a region or sector within a country. WIAL seeks flexibility in working with its affiliates to meet the needs for Action Learning coaches in their societies.

WIAL affiliates are currently being established in Bermuda, Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Lithuania, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore, and South Africa.

WIAL US

In 1995, WIAL co-founder Michael Marquardt met and worked with Reg Revans, widely recognised as the father of Action Learning. Their conversations led to the development of the WIAL model of Action Learning, which focuses on continual learning and enhanced actions. After years of testing through experience and research, the model took final form in its renowned six components and two ground rules of Action Learning.

WIAL has sponsored Action Learning Forums in the United States and Asia. WIAL members have written numerous books and articles on the subject of Action Learning, including two that are classics in the field - Action Learning in Action and Optimizing the Power of Action Learning.

Become an Affiliate

Organisations that wish to become WIAL affiliates must represent a broad sector of society (university, NGO, state/local government, corporate), must have as part of their missions or program offerings the promotion of Action Learning, and must be willing to train and be capable of training Action Learning coaches and certifying them to facilitate Action Learning. WIAL offers guidance in this process, as needed by its affiliates, and sets standards for the certification of Action Learning coaches.
